Since Salik switched to variable pricing, your commute timing decides your toll bill: AED 6 per gate in peak hours, AED 4 off-peak, free between 1am and 6am, capped at AED 24 a day. Calculate what your routine actually costs per month and year.

The variable pricing windows
Peak (AED 6): 6am-10am and 4pm-8pm, Monday to Saturday. Off-peak (AED 4): 10am-4pm and 8pm-1am. Free: 1am-6am every day. Sundays run at a flat AED 4 outside the free window, except during major events. Every pass under a gate charges – there’s no free return trip, so a standard commute through one gate costs two charges a day.
Trimming the bill
Shifting a crossing from 7:45am to 10:05am saves AED 2 per pass – AED 88 a month for a double-crossing commuter. Route alternatives like the Floating Bridge and Business Bay Crossing skip gates entirely on some journeys. Add your fuel cost and parking to see your full driving budget, or compare with the metro.
