Frequently asked questions
When does Darb charge me?
Only during weekday peak hours - 7am to 9am and 5pm to 7pm, Monday to Saturday - at the four bridges onto Abu Dhabi island (Sheikh Zayed, Sheikh Khalifa, Al Maqta and Mussafah). All other times, and Sundays, are free.
Is there still a daily cap on Darb?
No. Since 1 September 2025 the ITC removed the AED 16 daily cap and the monthly vehicle caps - every peak crossing now costs the full AED 4. Heavy commuters crossing repeatedly in peaks feel this change most.
How does Darb compare to Salik?
Darb charges only in peak windows (free the rest of the time) while Salik charges around the clock except 1-6am. Salik kept a daily cap (AED 24); Darb removed its caps. Both charge per gate pass with no free return.

When and where Darb charges

The four gates sit on the bridges onto Abu Dhabi island: Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, Al Maqta Bridge and Mussafah Bridge. Charging windows are 7am-9am and 5pm-7pm, Monday to Saturday. Outside those windows – and all day Sunday – crossings are free.

The cap removal changed the math

Until September 2025, heavy users were protected by an AED 16 daily cap and monthly ceilings. Those are gone – every peak crossing now bills the full AED 4, which matters for delivery drivers and multi-trip commuters. A twice-daily peak commuter pays about AED 176 a month. Combine with the fuel calculator and Mawaqif parking for your full Abu Dhabi driving budget – and Dubai drivers should see the Salik calculator.
