How the 2026 overstay rules work
The ICP unified the fine at AED 50 per day for everyone – tourists, residents, all emirates. What differs is the grace period: tourist and visit visas get none (fines start the day after expiry), standard residence visas get 30 days after expiry or cancellation, and Golden, Green and investor visas get up to 180 days. Fines are settled when you exit, renew or change status – and periodic ICP amnesty campaigns can reduce them, so check before paying a large amount.
Act before the fine compounds
At AED 50/day, a month of drift costs AED 1,500 and a year exceeds AED 18,000 – plus potential entry bans for long overstays. If you’re switching jobs, our final settlement calculator covers what your old employer owes you during the transition, and the gratuity calculator your end of service money.
