Ready, set, go! The world’s fastest, toughest, and most relentless triathletes are about to descend on Abu Dhabi for the Modon World Triathlon Championship Series, and trust us, you don’t want to miss this one. Taking place on February 15-16, this high-octane event is hitting the freshly unveiled Hudayriyat Island, a venue so slick and stunning that even the asphalt is probably excited.

If you thought triathlons were just for the insanely fit folks who somehow enjoy pain, think again. This race is set to be a full-blown spectacle—speed, endurance, drama, and some serious rivalries. The best in the business will battle it out, aiming to grab early-season glory and set themselves up for a shot at the 2025 World Championship crown.

Who’s in the Running?

Elite Men’s Race: A Showdown of Speed

Leading the charge is Paris 2024 silver medallist Hayden Wilde (NZL), who is all set to blaze through Hudayriyat with his signature speed. With Alex Yee (GBR) focusing on the London Marathon, Wilde has a golden opportunity to steal the spotlight. But it won’t be a solo act—Matt Hauser (AUS), Vasco Vilaça (POR), Jonas Schomburg (GER), and the Brazilian powerhouse duo of Manoel Messias and Miguel Hidalgo are all gunning for glory. Expect the final 5km run to be an absolute sprint-fest, possibly faster than your last-minute sprint to catch a flight.

Elite Women’s Race: A Battle of Titans

The women’s race is shaping up to be equally thrilling. A strong German squad led by Lisa Tertsch and Laura Lindemann will take on the reigning Olympic champion Gwen Jorgensen (USA), who is back for another full WTCS season. Throw in Taylor Spivey (USA) (who has already declared her love for racing in Abu Dhabi), defending champ Leonie Periault (FRA), and a powerhouse lineup featuring Jeanne Lehair (LUX), Tilda Månsson (SWE), and Rosa Maria Tapia (MEX), and we’ve got ourselves a race!

As Taylor Spivey put it: “It’s always special to kick off the season in such a vibrant city. The support and hospitality here make it feel like a second home. Let’s make this season unforgettable!”

Not Just for the Pros—You Can Race Too!

Think this event is just for the elites? Think again. Whether you’re a seasoned triathlete or someone who just discovered running shoes aren’t just for fashion, there’s a race for you. Age-group races, Para triathlons, and even beginner-friendly events are all part of the action. And here’s the kicker—Early Bird discounts (20% off) are still up for grabs! (But only until January 31, so don’t procrastinate—register NOW.)

Abu Dhabi Rolls Out the Red Carpet for Triathletes

According to H.E. Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, hosting this event on Hudayriyat Island is a testament to Abu Dhabi’s commitment to top-tier sporting events. “We are proud to continue organizing world-class competitions, showcasing the UAE’s dedication to sporting excellence while encouraging community participation.”
